Click here to volunteer for the Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin patch time. We need LOTS of volunteers to work in the patch. No experience necessary! Volunteers are needed to sell pumpkins. No heavy lifting required. Sign up for one or better yet several shifts. Bring a friend, bring a book, bring a camera. The shifts are 2 hours each except the last shift which is 2.5 hours to allow time for close up by 7:30 pm. This is a MAJOR fundraiser for St. John’s and a phenomenal outreach to the community. Over 900 school children attend storytime at the patch and thousands more come to the patch. Be a part of this outreach!

**A great way for students to earn community service hours by volunteering in the patch!

Will You Help a Child Learn to Read?
Camp  Sharigan
If you can donate 2 hours a month, you can help a child learn to read.  The Camp Sharigan Project is returning to St. John’s this fall on September 16th.  This time we will be offering a free reading clinic from September to May.  We have actually had children move up 4 grade levels in reading in one year.  These are children who entered the program failing.  You are the key.  We need volunteers to work with the children.  All curriculum and supplies are provided.  You do not need to be a teacher or have any special training.  The program is designed to work with volunteers –middle school, high school, college, parents, and seniors.  All you need is a desire to help a child learn to read.  For more details, contact Elaine Clanton Harpine at 361-867-8040 or clantonharpine@hotmail.com

If you teach a child to read, you can change the world.
